How long does insurance credentialing take?
Pick the insurers you want and when you can apply. You'll see a realistic window to be in-network with each one, from preparing your CAQH profile through contracting. No sign-up needed.
Your estimated timeline
| Insurer | Total time | Estimated window |
|---|
Medicare is a separate enrollment, and timing varies. See our Medicare guide for who qualifies and how it works.
Each total includes time to prepare your CAQH profile and documents (about 1–2 weeks if you start now, less if you prepare before your license is issued), the insurer's credentialing, and contracting. These are typical ranges for planning, not promises. Insurers set their own timelines. Missing documents, closed panels, or a backlog can add time, and we can't guarantee approval or dates.
Want this timeline by email?
We'll send your timeline plus a checklist of what to prepare. A real person replies (not an automated list), usually within 1–2 business days.
What makes credentialing faster
- A complete, attested CAQH profile before you apply. See our CAQH guide.
- Matching details everywhere: your name, address, and license number exactly the same on CAQH, your NPI record, and each application.
- Applying the week your license is issued, if you're an associate. See our LMHCA to LMHC timeline.
- Regular follow-up calls, since insurers often pause an application to ask for one missing item.
Want us to handle it?
We prepare everything, submit your applications, and make the follow-up calls, with a status update every two weeks. Prices are listed on our homepage.
Ranges last reviewed October 21, 2026. Where an insurer publishes its own timeline, we use it. Otherwise we use our general planning range of 60–90 days plus contracting.
